Instructor-Led Training
Project Title:
The Art of Toast Preparation Hands-On Practice
Tools used in Development:
Google Slides, Canva
Time in Development:
25 hours
Client:
Pinpoint Cafe
Challenge:
Without a structured, in-person practice component, food prep staff lacked the opportunity to apply their learning outside of a high-pressure cafe environment. This gap limited their ability to confidently and consistently prepare standard and customized orders during busy shifts, often leading to errors and inefficiencies.
Solution:
This hands-on, instructor-led training (ILT) was created as a follow up to the eLearning training, The Art of Toast Preparation. I developed an interactive ILT session using Google Slides and Canva, focusing on the same core areas identified in the eLearning: the importance of kitchen tool usage, portioning, and presentation. The ILT offers food prep staff a chance to practice toast preparation without the pressure of live customer orders. The session includes standard recipe guided practice, as well as practice with customized orders, helping staff adapt to a range of real-world scenarios while reinforcing cafe standards.
Results:
This hands-on training is expected to solidify the staff’s toast preparation skills and increase their confidence in delivering both standard and customized orders. The purpose is to reinforce key learning objectives with guided, real-world practice in toast preparation. The training focuses on proper tool usage, portion control, and presentation, while providing food prep staff with the opportunity to build confidence and consistency in a low-pressure environment. By connecting online learning with real-world application, the ILT better equips staff to uphold quality and consistency during live service, ultimately supporting improved customer satisfaction and kitchen efficiency.
